Catie Copley at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston was a Wonderful Hostess

Catie Copley is The Canine Ambassador for the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel in Boston. Catie Copley is a Black Labrador Retriever who greets guests everyday in the lobby of the Fairmont Copley Plaza. I'm a week late thanking Catie and the staff at Copley Plaza for a wonderful stay last weekend. Persephone took me to Boston for my birthday.

Catie Copley has become a bit of a celebrity. She has published two books: Catie Copley and Catie Copley's Great Escape and any smart politician in Massachusetts knows to go to The Copley Plaza to get their photo taken with Catie. Catie looks sharp in all her photos wearing her Custom Dog Breed Collar from Agatha & Louise. Catie has been wearing a collar from Agatha & Louise for the past 3 years.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is Number 1!!

Disney's "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" won the weekend box office for the second-straight week. It made $17.5 million. The talking-Chihuahua movie brought its overall total to $52.5 million! 

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is about a pampered Chihuahua (named "Chloe") accustomed to the living the good life in 90210 (Beverly Hills, CA) must rein in her heiress instincts and rely on the kindness of strangers in order to find her way back home after becoming hopelessly lost in Mexico (and she doesn't speak a word of Spanish!).

Marley & Me the Movie begins production on March 10th

A frequent topic of conversation at Agatha & Louise is Marley & Me (the movie). When is it coming out? Is it still being made? Is Owen Wilson in it? Do you think the movie will be as good as the book? etc...

This is the latest on the Marley & Me movie: Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston are still starring in Marley & Me and production is set to begin March 10th in and around Miami, Florida. They will also do  some filming in the spring around Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The movie is scheduled to be released Christmas day 2008...setting itself up to be the holiday blockbuster of 2008.

Uno the Beagle wins Westminster!!

Fan favorite Uno the Beagle takes the blue ribbon at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show!

It was clear earlier this month during the broadcast of the AKC Eukanuba National Championship Show that Uno is a special dog. I mentioned in an earlier blog entry that I was "going with the hound this year".

Uno has made history in more than one way... No Beagle has even won the hound group since 1939. And it's been 25 years since any kind of hound has been picked as the overall winner at Westminster.

AKC Eukanuba National Championship Show Results

Thursday night we watched an encore presentation of the AKC Eukanuba National Championship Dog Show. The winner was Charmin a Sealyham Terrier from Cochranville, Pennsylvania. Being a terrier lover I was excited to see Charmin win but to be honest with you I was a bit surprised. I thought the tri-colored Beagle (over 15") named Uno (who won the hound group) would be in the winner's circle. I am very interested to see how Uno does at Westminster. 

No beagle has even won the hound group since 1939. And it's been 25 years since any kind of hound has been picked as the overall winner. Why do I think Uno could be a contender to win it all at Westminster?

Just a quick reminder that the 132nd Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is coming up this Monday February 11th and Tuesday February 12th from Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Catie Copley "Canine Ambassador". A True Diplomat...

Catie Copley the "Canine Ambassador" of The Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston stopped by yesterday to say  "woof" with her friend Fairmont Copley Concierge Jim Carey. I felt privileged to have them in our store and even more touched that they seemed to enjoy themselves at Agatha & Louise...Catie worked her magic and negotiated (like any good Ambassador) her way into a few Polka Dogs for about an hour. She generously donated some of her precious time to posing for pictures with customers (and yours truly).

Do you know Catie Copley? She's received a lot of publicity in her short 3 year life. She even has her own book! I knew her as soon as I saw Catie and Jim walk into the store. She's been on my list of dogs I want to meet. Catie has perhaps the best job...the envy of many a canine in the New England area.

Dogs in the Movies

Today was another day when someone came into Agatha & Louise and asked us: "What kind of dog do you have"? We told him a Cairn Terrier and he had no idea (like many people) what a Cairn looks like. We told him "Toto" from the Wizard of Oz was a Cairn and he instantly smiled and knew what kind of dog we were talking about.

It seems that Toto is many people's favorite character in the classic The Wizard of Oz. And that got us thinking...are dogs a hit at the box office? Here is a list of the top 10 "dog movies" at the box office:
